SIGN BUYING 101

Most individuals are only involved in one sign project in their lives.  The process can be very confusing and tiring. And since most Schools and Churches make these types of decisions via committee, the frustrations can be enormous. The worst mistake that most groups make is purchasing without ever seeing the products up close. Often times these groups purchase a sign with nothing more than a picture and a promise. The following steps will help you make the right choice for your sign purchase.

  1. Check with Zoning
Check with zoning or the regulatory agency that has the jurisdiction over signs at your location. Tell them you are interested in purchasing a new sign for your facility and they will provide you with all of the details you need. Then call us or CLICK HERE to download "Questions to ask the Zoning & Planning Board."

  2. What Size Sign Will I Need?
Many factors go into this decision including: environmental issue like the speed of traffic, distance from the road, size and scope of your facility, along with personal preference and budget issues. One of our qualified Sign Consultants will review this information along with the zoning information and help you design a sign that fits your criteria.

  3. Look at Signs
We encourage you to take the time to look at signs from each company you are considering. Our Dual Face System sign is the best looking, longest lasting sign in the industry. But don’t just take our word for it. Check it out for yourself! We will provide you a list of our installations. Get out of your vehicle, walk up to the sign and examine it closely. If convenient, go by after dark to notice how the sign is illuminated. How is it protected? Does it remain clean and look good after a few months in the elements? We rarely lose a sale when clients actually take the time to look at the signs and understand the genuine differences in the design and construction. 4. Color Sketches
Don’t get caught up in a bunch of color sketches. Many committees end up making their decision by comparing various computer generated color sketches while setting aside design and construction details of how each sign is built. While graphics are extremely important, a good graphic artist can create a great look on a substantially inferior product.

  5. Warranties
Don’t be fooled by warranties that are merely marketing propaganda. Our lifetime manufacturers warranty offers you substantial protection against manufacturing defects. Unfortunately, some warranties can be very misleading. Warranties do not cover normal wear and tear – and all materials deteriorate over time. To assume warranty protection for materials or processes that will wear out in a few short years is presumptions and will lead to disappointment and financial loss. The best “warranty” is to purchase a quality sign constructed of the best materials utilizing the best design criteria.
